MCD
Manual Cracker Device
The Manual Cracker Device MCD is a simple, manually operated ampoule cracker which is intended to be used with our AGE 3 graphitization line. It’s a versatile tool to handle samples which are prepared offline and are not combusted in an EA. MCD lets you crack open glass/quartz ampoules containing CO₂ from offline combustion. Sample gas is transported to the AGE 3’s trap with a helium/argon flow.
With an integrated flow meter and a manual valve, the gas flow can be adjusted. MCD’s design gives you convenient access to the cracker bellows and allows for a safe and smooth handling. An integrated chemical water trap (recommended dry agent: Sicapent®) dries the sample gas online. The package includes our standard GSB gas switching box for convenient coupling and switching between different sample sources (EA/IRMS/CHS 2/MCD) for AGE 3.
